Episode 18 Singularity
The technological singularity is the idea that AI may one day become more intelligent than humans and begin improving itself very rapidly.
No one knows whether this will happen, when it might happen, or what it would mean.
The deeper question is not only how powerful AI may become, but how human beings should respond to that possibility.
Reflection
The singularity asks us to think about the limits of prediction and control.
If AI becomes much more capable than humans, we may face situations that are difficult to understand or manage.
This makes questions of responsibility, values, and human judgment even more important.
Questions for Thinking
Do you think AI could one day become more intelligent than humans?
If AI could improve itself, how much control should humans keep?
What risks should we take seriously, even if we are not sure they will happen?
If machines become more intelligent, what will remain distinctively human?
